Acetone – Paint Removal for Vinyl Doll Kits
Acetone is highly effective for removing heat set and air-dry paints from vinyl doll kits, making it ideal for correction work or full paint removal. Please note, acetone will remove all layers of paint—it is not suitable for stripping individual layers or making minor adjustments.
How to use:
Apply a small amount of acetone to a sponge or soft cloth and gently wipe the surface to lift paint. Do not rub vigorously, as this may damage the vinyl.
Important guidance:
- Avoid repeated stripping of the same kit, as this can cause the vinyl to deteriorate over time
- Not recommended for use on older kits (approximately 10+ years)
- On darker vinyl tones, always test on a small, inconspicuous area first, as some pigments may react and cause yellow or orange staining
Use with care to preserve the integrity and finish of your kit.
Once your kit is stripped, we recommend IRHSP Primer before using heat set paint or Waterborne Clear Base Primer on your stripped kit before applying new paint.
⚠️ Flammable liquid – store in a cool, dry place away from heat and open flames.
