SilcPro® Professional Silicone Pigments

SilcPro® Professional Silicone Pigments are highly concentrated colourants intended for use on fully cured silicone doll blanks when creating silicone paints for detailing and colouring.

These pigments must be mixed with a compatible silicone paint base (an A & B silicone system, such as a professional silicone paint medium). They are colourants only and are not a ready-to-use paint on their own.

Once mixed with a suitable silicone paint base, the paint may be thinned where required using a compatible silicone thinner. Some artists choose to use products such as Bob Ross Thinner, however compatibility should always be tested first.

SilcPro® pigments may also be used to colour silicone directly when added correctly to a compatible silicone system, however this should only be undertaken by experienced silicone artists.

As with all silicone colouring products, small test mixes should always be carried out to confirm compatibility and results before use.

A silicone paint base is a specially formulated silicone medium used to carry pigments so they can be applied to silicone surfaces. On its own, a pigment is simply a colourant; it requires a compatible paint base to bond correctly to silicone and cure as intended.

Silicone pigments are mixed into a paint base so the colour can be applied in controlled layers for blushing, mottling, shading, and detailing. Without a paint base, pigments cannot be used as paint and may not adhere or perform correctly.

There are a number of different silicone paint base systems available, and artists often choose a system based on their own experience, working methods, and the silicone they are using. For this reason, there is no single “best” system, and different artists may use different products with equally good results.
