Baby Fuzz - Fine Fibre for Authentic Reborn Details
Baby Fuzz is a premium fine fibre designed to add authentic newborn characteristics to your reborn dolls. Used sparingly, this delicate material serves a dual purpose: it naturally matts the surface of your doll whilst creating the subtle appearance of lanugo—the fine, downy hair that covers newborn skin.
What is Lanugo?
Lanugo is the soft, fine hair present on newborn babies' skin, particularly visible on the face, ears, and body. It typically sheds within the first few weeks of life, but capturing this authentic detail is what separates museum-quality reborn dolls from ordinary reproductions. Baby Fuzz allows you to recreate this crucial newborn characteristic with precision and realism.
Key Benefits:
Authentic newborn appearance – Recreates natural lanugo
Surface matting – Reduces shine and gloss for realistic skin tone
Minimal application – A little goes a long way
Versatile – Works on vinyl, silicone, and resin dolls
Professional results – Used by award-winning reborn artists
Application:
Baby Fuzz is applied sparingly to clean, prepared doll surfaces ( use over wet varnish) using a soft brush or applicator. The key to success is restraint—less is more. Strategic placement on the face, ears, and body creates the subtle, authentic appearance of newborn skin rather than an obvious or overdone effect. Professional artists layer Baby Fuzz with their paint techniques to achieve seamless, lifelike integration.
Works with All Mediums:
Whether you're working with heat set paints, WaterBorne acrylics, silicone paints, or any other reborn painting system, Baby Fuzz integrates beautifully. It's equally effective on vinyl dolls, silicone dolls, and resin pieces—making it an essential addition to any serious reborn artist's toolkit.
The Difference Between Good and Exceptional:
Collectors and judges can instantly recognise the difference between a doll with authentic newborn characteristics and one without. Baby Fuzz is one of those subtle-but-crucial details that elevates your work from very good to truly exceptional. It's the kind of detail that makes people say, "That looks so real!"
"The finest details separate the extraordinary from the ordinary. Baby Fuzz is one of those game-changing materials that professional reborn artists simply cannot work without."

Air Dry: Apply your chosen medium - matte or satin varnish to your chosen area. Using a dry brush and working quickly, lightly dab the lanugo fibre to the area you wish. Allow to dry. Fibres can be removed while the medium is still wet.
