Golden OPEN Thinner is a specially formulated, water-based additive designed to reduce the viscosity of acrylic paints while maintaining the extended working time of the  Acrylic paint. Unlike traditional acrylic mediums, it contains no binders and can be used to restore paint that has thickened during use. Its slow-evaporating formula helps keep paints workable for longer, making it ideal for blending and detailed colour transitions.
 
How to Use Golden OPEN Thinner
Mixing Ratio
For best results, do not exceed a ratio of 1 part OPEN Thinner to 3 parts paint. Adding excessive amounts may weaken the dried paint film.
Reviving Thickened Paint
If paint begins to dry on the palette, add a drop of OPEN Thinner or lightly mist the surface to restore a smooth, workable consistency.
Extended Working Time
Unlike water or conventional acrylic thinners, OPEN Thinner evaporates slowly, allowing significantly longer blending times. Paint mixtures may remain workable for hours and, when stored in a covered palette, can often remain usable for days.
Alternative Options
For increased transparency, texture, or other painting effects, consider using Golden Acrylic Mediums. If only a small adjustment in consistency is required, a small amount of distilled water may also be used.
