Moonbeams by Charlie Bears
There is something quietly magical about Moonbeams. Wrapped in a cloud of smoky charcoal fur, with long silken ears, a tiny pearl-coloured nose and a soft grey organza bow, he seems to have stepped from the stillness of a moonlit night.
 
His name could not be more perfect. Moonbeams brings to mind the opening notes of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata—gentle, haunting and full of feeling, like silver light trembling across dark water. He has become a very special favourite of mine and sits on my piano while I play it, listening with the solemn concentration of a small rabbit who understands every note.
 
Beneath all that wonderfully wild fur is the sweetest little face, with dark eyes peeping shyly through and the expression of a quiet companion who asks for nothing more than a place beside you. His beautiful grey paw pads and translucent bow complete his soft, shadowy colouring.
 
Moonbeams is not simply a lovely rabbit to display. He has a peaceful presence—the sort of companion who belongs beside bedtime stories, on a treasured chair or, perhaps, keeping silent watch from the top of a piano while music fills the room.
Some characters make us smile the moment we see them. Others touch something deeper. Moonbeams is one of those rare little souls who seems to arrive carrying a story of his own.
